Platypus is a Microsoft Windows-based, relational database package developed by ABRS to manage taxonomic, geographic, ecological, palaeontological, graphic and bibliographic information, and to generate automatically the Australian Faunal Directory web files and the Zoological Catalogue of Australia books. The CD ROM version of Platypus can be purchased through CSIRO Publishing, or you can download Platypus free of charge from our web-site. |

Zoological Catalogue of Australia, a database of taxonomic and biological knowledge to species level of the Australian fauna, is now incorporated into the Australian Faunal Directory. The published part of the Catalogue are derived from the database. See volumes published and in preparation. |

The Australian participant node for the Global Biodiversity Information Facility. ABIF's role is to provide a portal or web page to document and coordinate the activities of the Australian GBIF participants. It is planned to build a data portal that will provide access to checklists of species names and allow for searching of those specimens and observations contained in the biological collections of ABIF participants. |
